Repeat Prescriptions
How to order
You can order repeat prescriptions in the following ways:
- Online via EMIS Online: Emis online repeat prescription service
- Using the NHS App: NHS app website
- Via your nominated Pharmacy
- In person - Using the request form in our reception, or white FP10 right hand counterpart
- By post, please include a stamped self addressed envelope for return
- We do not take prescription requests over the telephone
Who can order
Please note that only requests from registered patients are valid, and only items which have been authorised as repeat prescriptions on your records can be requested.
What we need
For all repeat prescription requests please make sure you tell us:
- Your full name and address
- The full name of the drug(s) you need prescribing
- The dose of the drug you are taking and the quantity you require
- If you are requesting your prescription early, please tell us why
How Long does it take
The surgery will have prescriptions ready after two full working days.
It may take longer for your pharmacy to dispense the medication, particularly if you have requested for them to deliver the prescription.
How we communicate with you about prescription queries
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, practice nurse or practice pharmacist at least once a year to review these regular medications:
A notification will appear on your FP10 repeat slip or be communicated to your pharmacy, to pass on to you. Please check with your pharmacy every time you receive a prescription, to ensure that there is no action that you need to do.
Please follow any requests to arrange tests or appointments. Failure to do so may result in delays in prescriptions being issued, reduced quantities being issued, or the prescription not being issued.
Patients taking the following medication must be particularly vigilent:
- Amiodarone
- Azathioprine
- Carbimazole
- Ciclosporin
- Methotrexate
- Lithium
- Warfarin
- Antipsychotics
- Antidepressant/ anti-anxiety drugs
- Controlled drugs
Nominated Pharmacy
You can choose to nominate a specific pharmacy to which your repeat prescription and other prescripitons can be sent automatically. This means that you do not then need to collect the paper FP10 prescription token from the surgery reception and can, instead, go straight to the pharmacy to collect the prescription.
Please inform the surgery, when requesting your prescription, if you wish to nominate or update a new pharmacy.
